Saturday, June 22
It's a festival of balloons at the Field Station! Highlights include the creation of a juvenile T-Rex balloon sculpture by world champion balloon artist Mark Verge, the return of last season's hit show "Balloons from Around the World," and hot-air balloon demonstrations by RE/MAX, where a handful of lucky winners get a tethered ride in the famous RE/MAX balloon (weather permitting).
RSVP FOR A FREE TETHERED HOT
AIR BALLOON RIDE

The hot air balloon rides will take place in the Field Station parking lot beginning at 6:30 pm. Season Pass Holders can RSVP for a free 5 minute tethered ride in the balloon for a group of four people. The balloon rides are not recommended for children under the age of three. In addition, visitors to the park on Saturday can enter to win a balloon ride in Base Camp, and the winners will be chosen at the end of the day. All are welcome to stay and watch! Balloon rides are weather dependent and not guaranteed. If the weather on Saturday is not ideal, balloon rides will be moved to Sunday, 6/23.
Learn more about balloon artist Mark Verge:
My name is Mark Verge. I grew up in a small community of about 100 people in White Point, Nova Scotia which was very close to the ocean, which is why I believe it is called White Point because of the dense fog and now I live and perform in Toronto Ontario which is very far from the ocean!
I have been a balloon artist for 18 years, started twisting balloons when I was 27. Yup that makes me 45, probably one of the oldest kids you will ever meet. Some of my favorite accomplishments: I placed 1st at 6 International Competitions in the years of 2000, 2002, 2007, 2009, 2010 and 1013 in my favorite category... Large Sculptures, a life-size T-rex and the other was a Spinosaurus.
Besides dinosaurs I like sculpting other fun things like wearable balloon dresses which I did for a Hong Kong Fashion Show, life-size motorcycles, cartoons such as a life-size Flintstone car complete with Fred and Dino, a over-sized Tom and Jerry, and a 10 foot tall Transformer.
To get the ideas for my sculptures I browse toy stores and with a few bags of balloons and a lot of time I can pretty much make anything I see!
I have taught workshops in the Netherlands, Hong Kong, United States and Canada and entertained at sporting events for the Buffalo Sabres, Jays, Leafs, Raptors, and the Argonauts.
My life is pretty amazing as I get to visit amazing places and get paid to play! Visit xtremeballoons.com
